Lumix S5IIX | 3d Printed SSD Holder | Samsung T5 SSD
🎬🎥 In this video, I'm showing you a unique SSD mounting solution for the Lumix S5IIX. Instead of using a universal SSD holder, I've created a custom 3D-printed design. I aimed to ensure a seamless experience when connecting and disconnecting my Samsung T5 SSD.

🌟Custom SSD Holder for the Lumix S5IIX Rig
Getting a new camera system set up is always an exciting process, particularly when preparing for demanding video production.
The truth is, there's no single "correct" way to rig your camera. Flexibility is key, and the most effective setup is always one that adapts to your unique professional workflow, not the other way around.
The Lumix S5IIX offers a critical advantage: the capability to record high-bitrate video directly onto an external SSD. To fully leverage this for fast, efficient file offloading, I planned to mount a Samsung T5 SSD directly onto the camera rig.
Instead of relying on a generic, universal SSD holder, I decided to engineer a custom solution. The objective was clear: achieve a secure, lightweight mount that provides a genuinely hassle-free experience when plugging in and removing the T5 drive.
Designing for Precision: From Shapr3D to the Physical Prototype
My preferred CAD software, Shapr3D, became the starting point for design. The real magic, however, lies in the synergy with 3D printing. This combination allows for rapid physical prototyping, enabling me to test fit, form, and function through various design stages.
This iterative process is invaluable. After approximately two weeks of dedicated experimentation and testing, I successfully finalized the design and 3D printed a custom SSD holder for the Samsung T5 SSD using my reliable Ender 3.
The Power of Custom Tooling
Crafting and developing your own camera tools presents a unique and exciting opportunity to achieve the highest level of customization and efficiency for your setup. When the standard market solutions fall short, bespoke engineering steps in to elevate the final product.
I'm interested to know your approach:
