A: The toolkit is a complete ecosystem for acquisition and post-production. It includes an on-set monitoring LUT (.vlt for internal camera memory), the 11-Node CST PowerGrade (.drx) for DaVinci Resolve, access to the interactive web manual with video setup guides, and lifetime V1.x updates.
Q: Which LUMIX cameras are supported by the CWM Exposure Toolkit?
A: The toolkit is fully tested, calibrated, and supported for the LUMIX S5II and S5IIX. The original LUMIX S5 (Gen 1) shares the exact same V-Log/V-Gamut architecture and .vlt LUT loading engine, so it should theoretically work, but it has not been officially hands-on tested yet. Note that direct ProRes 422 / 422 HQ recording to an external USB-SSD remains exclusive to the S5IIX.
Q: Does the CWM Exposure Toolkit work with the original Panasonic LUMIX S5 (Gen 1)?A:Theoretically yes, but it is not hands-on tested yet. The original S5 shares Panasonic's standardized V-Log / V-Gamut sensor pipeline and supports internal .vlt LUT loading via its V-Log View Assist engine (via SD Card Slot 1). Because our calibration and video setup guides were built specifically on the S5II and S5IIX, we cannot officially guarantee menu screen parity or exact button layout matching on the Gen 1 S5 until physical testing is complete.
Q: Is this compatible with other camera brands?
A: No. The toolkit is specifically calibrated for the Panasonic S-Series V-Log / V-Gamut color pipeline. It is not designed for other camera brands.
Q: What software do I need to use the PowerGrade?
A: The core color science of the 11-Node PowerGrade works in the free version of DaVinci Resolve using native CST nodes. However, DaVinci Resolve Studio 21 or later is highly recommended to take advantage of Node 01 (Spatial & Temporal Noise Reduction) and Node 09 (Film Look FX).
Q: Can I adjust the PowerGrade nodes?A: Yes. Every node in the pipeline is 100% unlocked and non-destructive. You can fine-tune exposure, printer light balances, and contrast blends to suit your specific artistic vision.
Q: Is this just a LUT or a complete workflow?
A: It is a complete, two-part workflow. It bridges on-set camera acquisition (using calibrated false color monitoring to capture maximum dynamic range) directly with post-production (using a mathematically locked 11-node DaVinci Wide Gamut pipeline).
Q: Do I need an external USB-SSD for ProRes recording?
A: If you choose to shoot in Apple ProRes 422 / HQ on the S5IIX, an external USB-SSD is required by the camera. However, the ETTR 1 false color LUTs and DaVinci PowerGrade work equally well with internal MOV recording modes on the S5II and S5IIX.
Q: What is the ETTR 1 exposure method?
A: ETTR 1 stands for "Expose To The Right, +1 Stop." It is a precise exposure strategy that places skin tones in the +1 EV zone (Pink) using false-color monitoring. This pushes clean signal into the sensor, protecting highlight roll-off while placing shadows safely above the digital noise floor.
Q: Will I receive future updates?
A: Yes. All V1.x updates (V1.1, V1.2, V1.3) are included at no additional cost. Major V2.0+ architecture upgrades will require a separate purchase.
